A little side note...

Lamu door history: Brought all the way from Lamu Island, Kenya, this antique treasure was re-erected at Inshallah House in October 1949 during its initial construction. The door is marked as being created in A.D. 1601 or Mohammedan date 1369*, which makes this door 417 years old in December 2018. Phoenician influence is clearly noted in the feather pattern carvings where Egyptian importance is evident in the lotus flower carvings with Arab influence demonstrated in the ‘slave chain’ carvings. Persian character is also exhibited in the beautiful rose designs which are incorporated into the final piece.
